"[English] Call of Duty Zombies: Nazi zombies and a soundtrack full of 115."

There are lots of good "zombie-killing" games around. "Killing Floor", "Left 4 Dead", "Dead Island" and even "The Walking Dead" from the eponymous TV Show. And also, since 2008, with the release of the game "Call of Duty: World at War" - the most recent installment of the CoD series to pass on World War II - we've come to experience a new deal in zombie-slaying: "Call of Duty: Zombies".

"Nazi zombies?! On the Moon?!" - well, it is not always like that, but the Zombies mode has one hell of a trip on its storyline, which is not even close to being "canon" with the CoDs it comes along - fan-made logo for the mode, via Cassie Carnage's House Blog.

The mode was seen for the first time as a secret gamemode in Call of Duty: World at War, and was available to play only after the main storyline was completed. The basic idea was to be trapped somewhere and fend off hordes of zumbified nazis, while gathering points to use in weapon purchases and liberating new areas of the map.

Zombies mode also has its own storyline, which is so complex I'll have to tell it resumedly. In CoD: WaW, the story revolves around four people with different nacionalities - the Marine Tank Dempsey, the Japanese soldied Takeo Masaki, the russian infantryman Nikolai Belinksi and the "mad nazi scientist" Dr. Edward Richtofen - and their encounters with the "zombies", which are in fact, people that have come in contact with an element named "Ununpentium" - widely known as "115" (One-one-five) - during the experiences of a group labeled as "935".

The gamemode has also appeared in following CoD titles - every main title by Treyarch made since CoD:WaW, to be exact. That being, it has appeared on both "Call of Duty: Black Ops" and its sequel "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" which adds up to 17 different maps for the Zombies mode. While adapted to the other games, "Zombies" received new characters, new places, new weapons and new perks, but the storyline was always focused on 115.
-> For instance, in "Black Ops", the stage "Five" has special characters, with the "stars" of the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis being playable. That is, US president JFK, former candidate to presidency Richard Nixon, secretary of defence Robert McNamara and even... Fidel Castro!

From left to right: McNamara, a SPAS-12-wielding JFK, Fidel Castro with his signature cigar and Richard Nixon. All in the Pentagon, ready to kick some zombie ass. Epic. - image via Wikia for Call of Duty.

-> Besides, the weapons in the Zombies mode were also adapting to the games they came with. For example, in Black Ops II, no MP-40s: the real deal are KAP-40s and HAMRs. And in Black Ops... guess what... AK-47!

"Zombies" also presents a variety of maps and weapons which can be classified as... eccentric. The exploring of 115 also made the creation of teleport systems, time machines and many quirky weapons possible, so... we have:
-> A range of maps that go from japanese beaches to nazi theatres (CoD:WaW), and from prop-towns for nuke testing to Alcatraz! (CoD:BO2, with the new characters in Nuketown 2025 and sly-looking mobsters in Mob of the Dead). That's without even mentioning the WWII characters in a trip to a base of the Group 935 on the Moon!

-> And among weapons, we have the weird "Wonder Weapons", that can be obtained - with a good dose of luck - through a mysterious box which sorts random weapons for 950 points. Those include laser pistols (Ray Gun), thunder guns (Wunderwaffe DG-2), freezing guns (Winter's Howl), "de-zumbifiers" (VR-11), and many more. That without even mentioning the patented "Pack-a-Punch" system, which, for 5000 points, customizes your piece to... well, "pack a punch".

"Wonder Weapons" - from the cited above, we have the Ray Gun (on the top left), Wunderwaffe DG-2 (right next to the monkey), the VR-11 (under the Wunderwaffe) and the Winter's Howl (the cool-looking revolver on the top-right). Those and all the others are ready to transform your common zombie in a big pile of nothing. - via Youtube.

Ah, and speaking of Pack-a-Punch, we also have special beverages which, just like magic, work like "insta perks" and help a lot surviving those "two-hit-kill" arm-lobbers and brain eaters. Those are the so-called: "Perk-a-Colas".

A fan-made lineup of Perk-a-Colas. From left to right:
Mule Kick (allows for 3 guns to be carried, opposed to the normal 2)
Stamin-Up (upgrades the player stamina)
Quick-Revive (during multiplayer matches, it reduces reviving time in 1.5x. during singleplayer, it automatically revives the downed player)
Juggernog (extra resistance against arm-lobbers)
Speed Cola (faster reload speed)
Double Tap Root Beer (higher fire-rate)
PhD Flopper (falling down from buildings will now generate small explosions)
Deadshot Daiquiri (reduces weapon recoil)

Well... this is basically "Zombies Mode" in Call of Duty. Most of you probably know about all of that already, but the main reason I created this post was to bring light to the game's easter-eggs. Most precisely...

THE MUSICAL EASTER-EGGS:

Inside the 17 stages for zombies mode, we have a wide range of secret "easter-eggs". From past characters or stages to teddy-bears... small bears that can activate the best of the easter-eggs: secret songs.

The tracks included in each stage - that are found here - usually have to be activated through some... "rituals".

All of them were produced by Treyarch's sound editor Kevin Sherwood, with partnerships with many artists. The lyrics tell the gamemode's story, giving out tips about stages to follow.

And its instrumental arrangements can bring the matches the perfect atmosphere for slaying decaying zombies, with their glowing, devouring eyes and their hunger for... braaaaaains - sorta. Ah! And many singers have participated of them, and
 we have some high-end contributions...
-> The most classic singer for Zombies song is
Elena Siegman. Her badass voice was present in both Nazi Zombies and Black Ops Zombies, and she sang the way to the many other tracks to come.

-> Avenged Sevenfold contributed in Black Ops Zombies with the music "Not Ready to Die" - they also contributed for Call of Duty Black Ops 2 - [spoiler]

-> And also a special contribuition from a singer known to almost every die-hard Skyrim fan... Malukah! - who lended her beautiful voice for two tracks in one of the newest Zombies map: "Buried" (newest DLC for CoD BO2) recording: "Always Running" e "Where are we Going?"

In my opinion, all of the secret songs are simply awesome and deserve your attention. So, I hereby suggest:
- By the badass Elena Siegman: "115" (the zombiefier element!) and "Pareidolia" (named after the phenomenon of seeing things, like Jesus' face in a toasted bread!)

- From Clark S. Nova: "Carrion" ("flesh" in latin... is there something more badass than this?)

So, did you liked it? Do you have any CoD Zombies? So get yourself that list up there and enjoy "teddybear-huntin'!"

Catch them all!
