In May 2013, publisher/developer Electronic Arts obtained exclusive rights to develop Star Wars games for consoles and PC. EA's subsidiaries, including DICE, Visceral Games and BioWare have already started developing them.

At EA's E3 2013 press conference, DICE unveiled a teaser trailer for a game titled Star Wars: Battlefront, featuring footage of a battle set on Hoth. The game will be built with the Frostbite 3 engine, the same one behind Battlefield 4. Studio head Patrick Söderlund said that the game would be DICE's interpretation of what Battlefront should be, while still incorporating elements from the previous two games. As such, DICE did not brand the game as a sequel to Battlefront II, but as a re-launch of the franchise.

Söderlund also says that the new Battlefront game almost wasn't developed, but DICE employees pleaded to develop the project. He also called DICE's development of Battlefront a "match made in Heaven."

But will the so desired Star Wars 1313 be launched?
