"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" will introduce a living open world larger than any other in modern RPG history. The setting is more than 20 times larger than the one from previous Witcher games, requiring players to catch a sailboat for some locations and ride horseback to others. However, fast travelling to known areas is also possible. The Witcher 3 has been described as "20% bigger than Skyrim" and CD Projekt RED, the game's publisher, anticipates approximately 100 hours for the completion of the main story and the open-world sidequests.

Meanwhile, in Xbox One's regional locks...

According to official information from Microsoft, The Witcher 3 was originally not going to be available for Xbox One in Poland, the country where the game's development process is currently taking place. However, this has changed recently, once Xbox One's regional restrictions have been removed entirely.

The Witcher 3 will feature the new REDengine 3 game engine. Developed by CD Projekt RED, it was designed specifically for non-linear RPGs set in vast open world environments. REDengine helps to eliminate many of the game development trade-offs found by previous developers and allow that The Witcher 3 get an open-environment based, multi-thread story. As it was in the prior two Witcher games, players are presented with a complex story, featuring multiple choices and bearing associated consequences. But REDengine allows for a complex storyline without sacrificing much of the virtual world's design. Consequently, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will feature no loading screens, giving the players a vast visual environment to explore and roam freely.

The game is expected to be launched in 2014, and will be compatible with 8th generation consoles - Xbox One and PS4 - and also with the PC.
